Vacuum Forming

A vacuum forming technique involves heating a sheet of plastic material in an oven, then placing it on a mold. As the heated sheet hits the mold, a vacuum device pulls the plastic against the mold to shape it.

Although both methods are commonly used in plastic engineering, injection molding is still considered the most effective method for creating large-scale parts. Due to their capabilities, most schools still offer training in injection molding. From a design standpoint, injection molding is a great way to get creative with plastic components. It can create car parts, office furniture, and anything else that uses plastic.

Although the vacuum forming process is more elaborate, it still produces good-looking plastic parts. Injecting plastic into a machine requires more time and effort to produce, but the results are usually better. The average time it takes to produce an injection molded part is around 12 to 16 weeks, while the same time it takes to produce a vacuum forming part is around six to eight weeks. Today, people are more concerned with getting their products delivered right away. That's why vacuum forming is often used instead. Most people prefer to buy what they need when they need it, which is why they often use injection molding. Getting their product to market quickly and easily is challenging with traditional methods.
