How Much Does Die Casting Cost

The cost of making a die casting part is the biggest challenge for a potential customer. Due to the intense heat and pressure that comes with making a die cast, special steels are often used.

The cost of tooling can vary depending on the complexity of the part and the size of the investment required. Usually, the tooling cost ranges from $1,000 to $150,000 depending on the complexity of the part.

When receiving a quote, the customer will see the part as a separate item on the printed quote. Even though it's labeled as a separate item, the customer will never see it unless they visit our facility. The price for the part will also be indicated on the quote. This is because we only send you a part that's made from aluminum or zinc. The price for this component will also be outlined on the printed quote. A rule of thumb is that the price should not exceed 3x the cost of making a simple open and shut part.

The price of a simple open and shut part should not exceed the material cost for a part with a volume of more than 2000 pieces. This rule applies to most die cast parts.
