Creating sharp corners on PE parts can improve melt flow and minimize molded-in stress. Rounded corners are more resistant to impact type forces and are designed to improve the longevity of these components.

 

Draft angles are important for minimizing ejection forces and for achieving a cooling part reduction during the molding cycle. They can be achieved with polished core and cavities, and with a high degree of slippery surfaces.

 

The properties of PE make it easy to create depressions or holes in a variety of materials.

 

Low injection pressures allow the molding of small holes without the core pins bending problems associated with more rigid plastic materials.

 

Although tolerances are difficult to determine, generally speaking, a 1-inch-long component with a .125" thickness can be held to +/-0.80 inch with LDPE and +/-0.0085 inch with HDPE.
