Acrylic Low Pressure Auto Injection Molding and Manufacturing

At TEAM MFG., we are a leading manufacturer of custom plastics in China. We are committed to providing our clients with the highest quality products. We use various high-quality thermoplastics such as acrylic to create the ideal product for our clients.

What Is Acrylic?

Due to its shatter-resistant properties, acrylic is often used as an alternative to glass. It is 10 times more impact-resistant than glass and can be customized to have various coatings. During extrusion, various coatings can be applied to the acrylic sheet, offering finished specifications such as:

● Anti-Fogging Properties

● Scratch Resistance

● Ultraviolet Light Filtering

● Reduced Glare

Acrylic offers the following properties:

● Impact resistance

● Shatter resistance

● Does not yellow after long periods of UV exposure

● Easy to fabricate and thermoform

● Lightweight

● Highly durable

Acrylic Low Pressure Thermoforming

Thermoforming is the process of shaping a sheet of acrylic using an aluminum tool. After heating the acrylic, the resulting shape is then formed. This process is more affordable than injection molding and can be used for a variety of applications.

Acrylic Vacuum Forming

This technique is the most economical and quick way to thermoform. After the acrylic is heated, a vacuum is created to pull the air between the mold and the plastic. This process is commonly used for creating signs, shelving, and windshields for golf carts.

Acrylic Pressure Forming

Sharp edges and corners are often formed during the production of acrylic. To prevent this, we use high-pressure air to push the product into the tool. Due to the advantages of pressure forming over vacuum forming, it can create sharp edges and corners for various products such as retail displays and table tops.

Acrylic Twin-Sheet Forming

For double-walled products, such as cylinders, twin sheet forming is often used. This process involves heating two sheets of acrylic at the same time, and fitting them together.

Acrylic Injection Molding

For larger components and parts, we use acrylic injection molding. This process is done by heating the acrylic to a liquid, then placing it into a custom mold. Due to the complexity of the tool and the time needed to design and build it, thermoforming is typically the cheaper method. However, with acrylic injection, it can provide a low per-unit cost.

What Is Acrylic Used For?

Because acrylic is clear, durable, and shatter resistant, it can be used as a replacement for glass in many situations, and is often used to make:

● Signs and sign holders

● Retail displays and shelves

● Brochure holders

● Skylights

● TV screens

● Submarine windows and aquarium tanks
